Renzi Education & Art Center

The Renzi Center was founded in 1997 by the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows, professional artists, and community activists as a place for children and adults to explore, learn, and create under the guidance of professional teachers and artists.  Our programs are FREE and open to the community.  They include the following:

AFTER SCHOOL YOUTH PROGRAM

The After School Youth Program provides a FREE  fine  arts enrichment and academic-based curriculum for up to 60 youth daily, 28 weeks of the school calendar.  The Renzi staffs 35 professional artists and instructors throughout the year.  Sessions in art include Animation,
Cartooning, Ceramics, Charcoal, Collage, Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Drawing, Fashion Design Guitar, Improvisation,Instrument Making, Mix Media, Mural Painting, Music Video,  Percussion, Photography,  Piano, Soft Sculpture, Wire Sculpture, and Watercolor.    Academic sessions include Language and Math tutoring, Homework Assistance, Intro to Pastry, Library/Reading Time, Life Skills, Spanish, German, Japanese, Computer Literacy/Web Design, Nutrition and Yoga.

RENZI SUMMER FILM CAMP
Under the guidance of professional film artists, Renzi Film Camp Participants have the opportunity to explore various aspects of film, including screenwriting, camera composition, acting, costume design, prop creation and editing.  This past summer four teams of youth each created their very own short film.

The three week film camp takes place during the summer and is open to 2nd through 12 grade youth.

FALL FAMILY WEEKEND WORKSHOPS
The Fall Family Weekend Workshops are designed to enhance family dynamics and assist families in growth and development. We offer interactive sessions for youth and their parents and/or mentors and are designed to engage families in a meaningful way.    Each two-hour workshop provides professional hands – on art experiences or life skill management know-how. The Renzi Education & Art Center is affiliated with The Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows, a Roman Catholic religious community involved in education.   The Renzi Center is separately incorporated from Our Lady of Sorrows and is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, incorporated under the laws of the State of Louisiana.
